Brendan Lee Satish Tang
Remix Generation
Brendan uses this toys to show his reconfiguration of historical art traditions. The use of mixed media shows his interest in cultural appropriation and hybridity. This, he says, is a reflection of his ambiguous cultural identity.
His work's aesthetics is driven by visual culture, which is labour intensive and detail orientated. He places high value on craftsmanship; this allows him to reference art history.
Techniques he uses includes hand painting, gold luster, airbrushing, hand molded filigree and photo based decals.

Fabrice le Nezet
This Edition by Fabrice Le Nezet is called Curling Players. The characters is designed and then modeled by means of 3D printing. The designer smoothed every piece by hand with sand paper, as the 3D printing does not create a smooth enough surface. From these designs molds were made from silicone. Several copies of the characters could then be casted in Polyurethane.

Cathy CowGirl
Cathy Cowgirl is based on a recurring character from the artist’s paintings and billboard appropriations, often associated with his ongoing jabs at the dairy industry’s use of bovine growth hormones. Arguably the first time the words “buxom” and “teats” are both appropriate descriptions.
By Ron English.

Viktor & Rolf Dolls
Although Victor and Rolf are not toy designers but fashion designers, I say their range of dolls are pretty awesome. They are known for their Dutch eccentricity and experimental runways. They came in the spot light in 1996 with art and installation creations. For this retrospective they are not using the runway to feature their clothes, but are choosing a more awkward way of exhibition...putting their clothes on dolls.

Custom Vinyl Toys by MAp-MAp
Some of my favourite custom vinyl toys are created by UK artist & illustrator Matthew Plater, aka MAp-MAp. His quirky collection of characters often have a cool little backstories to accompany them. I love seeing the designs at the just primed stage because it gives a great insight into how much painstaking sculpting goes on to create these customs and original pieces.

Condom teddy
2300 condoms later, a teddy is created as part of the Playing Painful campaign. The main concept for this toy is about teenage dissipation. Boys and girls finding love and care in the act of random "one night stands". The next toy is in "the making" and consists out of needles!
